In Memory of Ruth Grosse

On April 15, 2007 Ruth Grosse, one of our original members, passed away. Ruth with her husband, or 75 years, Phillip "Pat", helped to found Beth Ami in 1978.

Ruth was born in Russia, emigrated to New York, and moved to Phoenix 35 years ago. She spent 28 of those years as an active member of Beth Ami Temple. Her son, Rabbi Fred Grosse was our first Rabbi, and her grandson David Grosse was the first Bar Mitzvah at the new temple.

Ruth was well known for her wondrful cooking at our pot luck dinners and especially for her creamed herring, which she served at every Yom Kippur Break-fast.

Ruth knew almost every member by name and was always thrilled to see them. She was an active participant in all Temple activities and could always be found front and center at our services.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Pat Grosse, son Rabbi Frederick (Victoria) Grosse, daughter Lynne (Peter) Ackerberg, sister Rose Rubin, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
